Hyper-Realistic Animal Moments in Lisa Ericson’s Acrylic Paintings

In a previous post, I shared 8 artists who are making fantastic art using acrylics. I had fun finding dramatically varied styles of work, since acrylic paint is crazy-versatile. I like to call it the renaissance man of art supplies. No I don’t; I just came up with that. 😆

Anyhoo, please enjoy the art of Lisa Ericson, who was included in my original acrylic artists post, and who I’ve been meaning to write more about, and here we are!

Lisa’s paintings are eye-popping in their photorealism and surrealism. Animals go about their business in impossible still lifes, with saturated colors and photo studio-esque directional lighting. What really gets me, though, is how so much emotion is conveyed – through the eyes? movement? facial expressions? of the animals. I think it’s the perfect combination of all of the above that truly inspired art can express.
